Thursday, 11AUG, it was a late morning start east on US 2 to
Deception Falls to hike the Deception Creek Trail. Pretty strenuous hike, especially for
grandkids & grandparents. Opa Dan
decided to show the grandkids that there are edible items in the forest, by
showing them huckleberries & oregon grapes.
They thought picking your own snack was amazing. Unfortunately they then thought any red berry
or blue berry was edible:(
So when Opa
Dan ran across some salmonberries, he didn’t point them out. On the return to the vehicle Mason was stung
on foot by something; & it took some time to calm him down & resume
walking on his own. Then it was back to
the house for alfresco BBQ; followed by a campfire for s’mores.
