06-31JUL21 - Sultan, WA (corrie takes a beach vacation🏝🏖)

Latest & hopefully last medical update on Dan’s stroke, at least for this year?  Dan had the first session with speech therapist, half way thru second visit they determine nothing more needed.  Next stop during the month was a visit with neuro specialist.  After one hour visit & reviewing Dan’s file, neuro specialist decided no issues to address.  But Dan is not 100%, cardio guy has found heart issues that are now being addressed & stabilized.  For now drug regimen changed & routine follow-up visits to be scheduled.

Sunday AM, 11JUL, Dan finishes retaining structure for garden/flower bed.  Right before lunch Rebecca & grandsons show-up.  Then we all, including Corrie, pile into the truck & Dan drives them to SeaTac airport for trip/vacation to Louisiana.  This family trip was planned before Dan’s stroke so Rebecca & kids could visit family & friends in Houma, LA, & Corrie could get her grand daughter Coraline fix🙃.  Then Dan heads home to dogsit for two weeks as the Seattle area starts another heatwave.

While Corrie vacations Dan keeps doing finish work on new garden fence and gates, while dog sitting (Bella & Rocket).

Tuesday, 20JUL, Dan finishes cleaning house & then heads to SeaTac to pick up Corrie, Rebecca & grandkids.  After getting back to our house, Corrie immediately attends to her veggie/fruit garden harvesting bounty crops.  Rebecca heads to her house leaving grandboys here.

Saturday AM, 24JUL, Rebecca comes over to spend day & dinner with the boys; While here she helps Dan reposition ninja line; family time in pool; she takes boys into Sultan to play at playground; BBQ for dinner; then ice cream before she heads home.  After she leaves Jaxson has temp & headache right at bedtime (Dan runs to Freddy’s for kid Motrin & Tylenol).  Sunday AM Jaxson on the mend quite day to speed Jaxson’s recovery; not much done.

Wednesday, 28JUL, Dan takes boys to Remlinger Farms last visited almost three years ago.  Still a fun place to visit but you can see covid has reduced the staff and things to do; not to mention customers.  Back home, breakfast for dinner; grandkids very helpful in yard & garden.

Home - Remlinger Farms

Friday now Mason little sick; Rebecca comes over because Mason ill & because she planned on taking boys home tomorrow; Saturday (last day of July) Rebecca & Corrie have girls day out for few hours; Dan mows; since Mason is slightly under the weather, Rebecca takes both boys home to see if he recovers by Monday (work day).

01-05JUL21 - Pacific Beach, WA (🧨celebrating the 4th at a b&b 🎇)

Thursday, 01JUL, not the greatest start to a new month; late AM off to medical appointment so Dan can get biopsy on tongue (benign).  Very simple procedure but pain catches Dan by surprise when novocain wears off.  Spend rest of day getting packed for tomorrow’s trip to Pacific Beach, WA.  Where we will meet Rebecca & grandsons (Jaxson & Mason) for the Fourth at an Air BnB (a first for us).

Friday 8AM we start drive to beat all the forecasted traffic jams forecasted for this post covid holiday.  Find BnB but can’t check into 3PM; so off to Ocean Shores to find lunch spot.  (Pacific Beach very small & it appears only food spot is teriyaki counter in the lone gas station)  Then back to check into BnB (pretty nice w/all comforts of home:)  Then walking on the beach; around 8PM Rebecca & kids arrive.  Then off to the beach for long walk before everyone crashes 10PM.

Saturday AM Corrie & Rebecca walk to the only coffee shop in town.  Then we jump into car & head to Ocean Shores for miniature donuts at Kookamunga’s.  Next we crossed the street to Sharky’s for typical tourist junk.  We walked thru the town of Seabrook which is a “new” town created as a planned seaside community.  Before heading back to Pacific Beach & the beach, where the boys actually got in the frigid water.

That evening we were treated to Jay Jaye one man band playing on the KXPB outdoor stage from 7PM to 10PM (definitely for all those 68 to 74 hard rockers).  The audience never got bigger than 12 people & two dogs.  Back to BnB for s’mores & family games.

Sunday (Happy Fourth🎆) head toward Lake Quinault; small lake surrounded by Quinault Indian Reservation, Olympic National Park & Olympic National Forest.  Check out the Lake Quinault Lodge built in 1926 & bought lunch.  Then drove to worlds tallest Sitka Spruce; then we complete drive around north end of lake & back to the BnB.  Take out dinner (because we couldn’t get reservations) from Ocean Crest Restaurant (highly recommended).  Finally fire off all Rebecca’s fireworks to keep grandkids quiet.  Unfortunately some yahoos keep firing off their fireworks until 2:30AM (everyone manages to sleep thru it, but Dan).

Monday AM clean-up BnB & everyone hits the road by about 0930.  We beat the traffic jams & get home for lunch; unload truck, do laundry & not much else.
