This time Corrie felt up to a walk about the town, similar to the one Dan and Gumbo took last time. Little has changed but the Van Gogh’s gallery/book store with all the books piled on the side walk is gone – so Dan will never solve the mystery of what really went on there or who ran it? Also the vacant/derelict motel with the sign promising free Sci Fi, not WiFi, is gone. The establishment with all the sculptures made out of junk metal, wood, beer and wine bottles (lots of beer and wine bottles!!!) was still there, so we spent several minutes checking it out and taking pictures. Next it was off to Chuy’s Mexican Restaurant for Dinner, also discussed in our previous BLOG about Van Horn. Chuy’s is famous because John Madden eats there whenever traveling I-10 in his custom bus; and he has even inducted them into his Haul (note spelling) of Fame.
That evening on the news we learned that the entire southern area of NM all the way east to the hill country of TX, would be subject to high winds (gusts over 60mph) starting at 1300 tomorrow, 26MAR Thursday, continuing until late Thursday night. So we have decided to get an early start in the morning and get to Deming, NM, to beat the winds.
