01-29FEB20 - Sultan, WA (skiing🎿 & snowboarding🏂)

February continues with more rain, after one of wettest January’s on record.  Saturday, 01FEB, more rain & more rain until about 430PM when it turns to snow.  Dan’s niece Marisa, and sons Jaxson & Eli stop by in the morning to meet Corrie for snowshoe session w/national forest ranger at Stevens Pass.  The weather there not too bad at pass level, but windy.  They all return to house for homemade soup w/bread, butter & cheese; Marisa & boys get on road home just before rain turns to snow.
Saturday’s snow resulted in good skiing conditions for Dan on Monday.  Upon his return to house, learn of babysitter needed for grandson Mason because of illness.  So he packed overnight bag & set off on unplanned trip to east Bremerton; to return home Tuesday evening.

Sunday, 09FEB, after non-stop rain, finally some sunshine.  Because of almost daily rain since the new year, the ground is saturated & cannot absorb any more water; causing standing water on our driveway (which has never happened).  During the few rain breaks Dan finishes gate “art” project for Corrie; & Corrie crafted some “flowers” made of goodwill purchases & rebar for flower beds.

Monday was a sunny day; so Dan & friend Rich Formisano went to Stevens Pass Ski; while Corrie & Jan Formisano went shopping.
Tuesday, 18FEB, first entirely sunny day since 30NOV!!!  Dan goes skiing.  After skiing Dan picks up one ton of 5/8 minus rock for the floor of Corrie’s “greenhouse”, which we had recently moved & placed on a pressure treated foundation at end of January.  Then we unload the rock into the greenhouse.
Saturday AM, 22FEB, Dan is off to SeaTac airport to pick up son Joe & Zack Chiasson (Bethany’s brother) who will be here for one week of snowboarding.

First stop is Pancake Chef for food, last visited AUG2012.  After getting to house the boys take off to pick up rental equipment.

Upon their return, they (& Corrie) decide to drive to Rebecca & Raymonds to visit & go hiking tomorrow.  While Corrie can get her grandkid fix.  Dan & dogs are left at homeL  Sunday Dan doesn’t do much; Joe & Zack go hiking in the rain w/Pitres; while Corrie shops.  Corrie & boys return to the house that evening.
Monday AM Joe, Zack & Dan heads to Stevens Pass Ski; late opening but good day of skiing.  Tuesday was a great day of skiing at Stevens; great grooming & sunshine.  Wednesday Dan went to Habitat for Humanity; while the boys go boarding & visit Leavenworth, WA.  They were going to night ski but day warms-up & snow gets slushy, so they head home.
Thursday, 27FEB, great day & night skiing for Joe, Zack & Dan at Stevens.  Friday Joe & Zack last day of snowboarding.  Dan stays home, mows & works in yard before rain returns.

Saturday (leap day) Dan takes Joe & Zack sightseeing in Seattle, before they catch their flights out.  Park next to Seattle Center & first stop Museum of Pop Culture (aka MoPop).  Formally known as Experience Music Project (EMP Museum).  Last visited in 2014.

Then ride monorail downtown for quick walking tour of Pioneer Square;

Pier 54 & Ivars Fish Bar (used to be Ivars Acres of Clams?) for lunch;
then next door to Ye Olde Curiosity Shop & visit Sylvester;
walk waterfront to Seattle’s Public Market (Zack not a fan of the gum wall);

finally back to monorail returning to car & on to SeaTac airport.  Dan heads back home for some well-deserved rest!
