Wednesday, 01JUN, late morning we (Corrie, Dan & Canadian
sister-in-law, Elaine) departed the RV park in Oak Harbor, WA, & headed
back to our house in Sultan, WA. Thursday
morning it was back to the Swedish Clinic in Seattle where Corrie had her thyroid
removed 12MAY. We were concerned that Corrie’s
voice has still not returned (sounds like the Aflac duck) & her shortness
of breath. They can see no obvious
problems, & more tests were ordered.
After returning to Sultan, Corrie & Elaine head to Everett
for shopping. While there Corrie got a call
from the doctor’s office that nothing definitive on tests; but possible blood
clot – head to emergency room for more tests & CT scan. Since we only have one car; Dan was at home
& learns of this via cell phone, leaving poor Elaine to hold Corrie’s hand
while they await test results in Everett.
Over four hours later Corrie & Elaine finally make it home – all is
wellJ!
Friday Elaine packs her bags to return back to Manitoba,
Canada. The plan is to meet her friends
back at Angel of the Winds Casino (where they dropped her off last week) around
2PM for the drive back to Canada. But her
friends are delayed at the USA/Canada border & get there late. No real problem, especially since Dan did
very, very, well on penny Video PokerJ. After Elaine departed, we headed over to
Dan’s cousin Bob Harris & wife Pattie’s (who we last visited 20MAR) place
for a very nice impromptu visit.
Saturday, 04JUN, & Sunday, Seattle had temperatures 20 degrees
over the daily average. While Dan was
using the Ferguson tractor to bush-hog the pasture, it developed an unknown
radiator leak. But because we have
approximately four acres of lawn & pasture (but no livestock?), we have
acquired four different mowers! However the
tractor is needed for the heavy duty cutting of the back pasture, so we put a
call into our tractor repair guy.
Monday, 05JUN, Dan takes Corrie to SeaTac airport to fly to New
Orleans. No emergency, but our daughter
Rebecca’s husband Raymond will be drilling with the National Guard for two
weeks. So Corrie flew back to help out
w/the grandkids, rather than Rebecca paying for daycare or taking vacation days
from work. Because it was the height of
morning rush hour when he left the airport, Dan took back roads into Seattle to
sightsee some old haunts rather than fight morning rush hour for hours.
Corrie was at Rebecca’s place from 05-14JUN. During that time period Rebecca, grandkids
Jaxson & Mason, & Corrie went to the beach area of Destin, FL, for
several days. While there they were
joined by our son Joe.
Wednesday, 08JUN, Dan reconnects with Habitat for Humanity like
he tries to do every year while in Sultan.
This year’s project is a two story house in Everett, WA.
Thursday, 09JUN, Dan headed over to cousin Steve’s & wife Bonnie’s
in Kittitas, WA, to help install new fence sections on their property. Working half a day on Thursday & then
most of Friday morning the project is completed & looks pretty good. In true farmer/rancher fashion Steve had tied
a small generator to the back of his ATV, & bolted a chopsaw to the front;
so no hand tools were necessaryJ! After lunch
Dan headed back to Sultan.
Sunday afternoon, 12JUN, Jim & Clarke Van Sice show-up for an
overnight visit. Their daughter had just
graduated from Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA. Clarke had been to our house 29SEP15, Jim
never had. Many hours of reminiscing
w/excellent dinner at Bubba’s Roadhouse, Bar & Grill in Sultan, WA, where
they advertise – EAT BIG FOOD! Very
early Monday morning they headed to SeaTac airport & Dan headed off to a
medical appointment in Everett.
Tuesday, 14JUN, late night Corrie returned from LouisianaJ! Not much else done the rest of the month,
other than the usual (gardening, mowing, medical, etc).
This month’s “significant” project was building a coatrack in
the pantry/mud room that is used as the entrance from the garage. Dan has thought about this project off-and-on
for three years. You will notice in one
of the pics that there is green tape & blue tape on the floor? The green tape was the original plan last
year. The blue tape was the final plan
after learning the wall studs were not 16 inches on center.
