Sunday, Labor Day, Dan off early to Jaxson’s second soccer game of tournament; then home (1st game was yesterday, pics in our AUG BLOG). Corrie still under the covid weather. Corrie has had cell phone issues during San Diego trip; Dan can’t solve problem, so off to Verizon. Sales clerk says phone is “older” and baseline Motorola, 4G only. So going against all his instincts about “new” cell phones, Dan purchases last year’s model. Dan opts for two brand new pixel 9PRO's at zero dollars; just sign-up for three year contract🙃 So now we both have same phone/camera and last year technology.
Monday early AM Dan heads to soccer tournament for Jaxson’s third game; his team wins, so that means they are in the final at 4PM. So Dan drives home, checks on Corrie and dogs; before driving back for final.
Unfortunately the boys run out of steam in second half of championship game and lose. Not bad though, two tournaments in four week time, second place both times. Dan back home again to get ready for tomorrow’s medical procedure.
Tuesday up really early 0345AM so that dan can get to his
check-in time of 0530 for cardiac catheterization (prep time, procedure time
and recovery time). Dan is finally
released at 1230; finally back home to do nothing.
Wednesday, 04SEP, Corrie has medical in AM. After Dan has lunch realizes that his back right, lower molar has “lost” part of the crown. Resulting in quick trip to dentist. So Thursday at 8AM Dan returns to dentist for new crown. Turns out this is one of his original crowns from 20 yrs ago. Current dentist was surprised that base of crown was gold not porcelain. Unfortunately Corrie really under the weather and goes to urgent care, she has bronchitis. Dan spends (ie wastes) three hours trying to get her prescriptions at Safeway.
Saturday mid AM, Dan heads to Jaxson soccer game against same team they lost tournament championship to on Monday. Jaxson’s team improves but loses by one. Dan heads home and mows; Corrie still under the weather.
Sunday AM, 08SEP) Dan takes off to Seattle for a luncheon date at Gary Boyer’s house and Jim & Clarke Van Sice will be there. (hard to believe but time has flown and we (ie Dan) have not seen Gary for eight years☹ ? Corrie supposed to go but still under the weather. Great time reminiscing and home to Corrie. Jim and Clarke Van Sice head north to Burlington, WA, or BC, Canada?
Monday Corrie had medical appointments and errands most day. Not much else done; Tuesday, nice weather;
corrie slowly mending, most of day spent getting RV and house ready for
tomorrow’s visit with Clarke & Jim Van Sice
Wednesday right after lunch Clarke & Jim Van Sice show up
for overnight visit. Great time just
sitting around reminiscing and snacking.
F.or dinner we just picked up three Red Pepper pizza (great local Sultan
pizza, but way too much) Dan will be
eating leftover cold pizza for days🙃
Thursday AM, 12SEP, left over pizza for breakfast and little more reminiscing. Then Jim & Clarke headed to SeaTac airport to fly home to FL. Not much done but Dan put RV away.
Friday Dan has TAVR Specific CTA scan of his “damaged” aorta
valve. If nothing more found, then the
fix will be a procedure they call TAVR, not open heart. Medical board to vote on Wednesday, if they
all agree procedure will be 23SEP! Back
home Dan packs and heads to Rebeccas to help with boys and prep for Mason B-day. After arrival Jaxson wants to immediately
work on new trampoline assembly in back yard!
Dan, Rebecca, Jax work on it until rain arrives.
Saturday AM all of us off to Jaxson soccer game; then back to trampoline assembly. Heavy, heavy rain drives us indoors. Try couple of time to get trampoline done only to be chased back by rain☹ Finally got first stage of construction done in the dark.
Sunday early AM, 15SEP, Dan takes ferry back to our side of Puget sound to catch Mason’s soccer game in Mount Vernon. After game Dan heads home to Corrie and dogs.
Wednesday Dan drives over to Rebecca’s to help clean-up yard in
prep for Mason’s b-day Sunday. Dan
spends time placing tree/bush debris into two recycle bins and mows. Thursday Dan continues with debris removal
and after lunch Dan heads home. Mows and gets ready to return to Rebecca’s with
Corrie and dogs tomorrow.
Friday AM, 20SEP, Dan loads truck for trip to Rebecca and
grandboys. Corrie runs errands and then
we hit the road to the ferry. After
arrival we take care of dogs and unload the truck. Next is loading up couple piles of yard
debris to run to yard waste facility tomorrow AM.
Early Saturday, 21SEP, Dan & Rebecca head to yard waste
recycling facility and unload truck. During
the day Corrie and Rebecca keep busy by getting yard and garage ready for
Mason’s b-day party tomorrow. While also
running boys to soccer team pictures and games both at different times. Meanwhile Dan dog sits three dogs while
loading truck with more yard debris. Then
makes another run to recycling facility.
Finally early evening back together in house for family dinner.
Sunday AM last minute activity to get all ready for Mason’s b-day at noon. Invitees are from his class at school and soccer team. Right after party starts, we hit the road back to house in Sultan. Dan mows back yard and spends rest of evening preparing for tomorrow’s TVAR procedure.
Monday early AM, 23SEP, head to cardio division of Providence Hospital, Everett, for aorta valve replacement (aka TVAR). Wheeled into operation room at 8AM and done by 9:15AM. Then to post op recovery room for a few hours to insure everything OK. Then to overnight room for more monitoring and observation. Not that Dan felt like enjoying it, but room window had beautiful view of Possession Sound, Whidbey Island and Mt Baker.
Transcatheter
aortic valve replacement (TAVR) - Mayo Clinic
Tuesday after poor sleep two tests conducted of new valve to see
if all is alright. Both tests are
positive and Dan released and home by 4PM.
Wednesday Dan fires up computer for first time in three days and can’t
login☹ Calls around to computer tech stores and
finds one that will put Dan at head of line for $75. Dan says ok and computer is fixed (bad USB-C
power cord) and back to house. Dan
finally removes bandages from incisions and then showers. Removing bandages was the most painful part of
the whole procedure. Thursday Dan
improving almost 100%; most of day devoted to doing nothing.
Friday, 27SEP, Dan wakes up to a bout of angioedema, last bout
was 03MAY2021 right after his stroke. So
off to Monroe ER for intravenous fluids and three hours of observation. Back home and another immediate primary care
visit scheduled for Monday, On the good
side Dan feeling fully recovered from TVAR procedure😊
Saturday AM we head to Jaxson soccer game in Renton; no problem getting there. But after game to avoid major traffic jams due to construction projects, Dan uses GPS to route thru secondary roads north to house. Of course he gets us lost and takes us over two hours to get home. So we drive straight to new café Gracies Place located in middle of new RV Park outside Sultan. Got great sandwiches for take out and home to dogs.
Sunday nice day, Dan’s recovery going very well. Monday AM, last day of SEP, Dan heads to primary care for transitional care follow-up to TVAR procedure. Great weather and Corrie gardens and mows.
